Back in April I made a bet with my buddy Mike...

I was sure Trump would win the primaries and become the GOP nominee because assholes of a feather flock together.
Mike thought Trump would win the primaries but ultimately would NOT become the GOP nominee thinking that one of many factors would prevent him from assuming the role at the convention.
That he'd drop out or be replaced in a political coup because of his hate speech or dropping polls or just the fact that his ego couldn't take the chance of a loss in Nov.
So we bet lunch on it.
Who do you think will pick up the tab, me or Mike?

19. I thought he would have a complete mental break-down such that

he would be dragged away and put in a mental ward. Still could happen...his grip on reality seems to be tenuous enough.

Hope you enjoyed your lunch!

Although the GOP's always been run in a top-down authoritarian fashion that suits most conservatives, this year the foot soldiers are rioting. The convention's going to chicken out on taking the election away from the millions who voted for Trump.

Trump's not going to withdraw any time soon because he'll want to pay himself back the $40 million his campaign (very tellingly not himself in his mind) owes him, and at some point backers are going to step in to try to make him lose in somewhat better than crash-and-done-yet-never-gone style two months before the election.

My best prediction and I don't even get the hope of a Crab Benedict for it.

I think Mike is going to buy your lunch. I would bet at least a lunch on it myself.

It would be a diaster for the GOP. The people spoke and they chose Trump. He should be the nominee.

I can't imagine his being eager to lose big to Clinton, nor dumb enough to believe he'll win. Nor willing to move to Washington if he did win.

But I've been saying he'll quit since last summer.

11. What would make him choose to quit though? People saying shit about him?

people saying he will lose?
They have been saying that for a year and all he did was run the table during the primaries.
Why should he believe the voices of doom now?

...particularly the revelations that he is a member of the Epstein Rape Club, that he committed fraud, or that he isn't really a billionaire. Those would do it, but who knows how long he'd try to stick it out if he thought he could win.

There is in the GOP a repeated pattern of criminals and incompetents trying to fail upward. If Trump believed himself in serious legal trouble, he might try to hide in the relative immunity of a presidential campaign for as long as possible.
