My Hat is Off to the Congressional Democrats. This was Great.

And before anyone starts sniping, I am saying this collectively about all who planned and participated. Just tipping my hat.

The Dems showed fire and backbone against GOP obstructionist tactics. We need more of this.

A sit-in may not be advisable as a common occurrence, but that kind of Rock and Roll, Oppositional Piss and Vinegar is what is required to stand up to the GOP, whether it is expressed, through parliamentary maneuvering, speechifying, public messaging.

Whether or not it results in a immediate particular victory on specific issues is less important than standing up for principles, and saying "Screw You" to the GOP high handedness (regardless of which party is in power at the moment).

Cumulatively, if they keep it up, we may have a chance.

Just my two cents.

I can't believe the NRA and the gunners are not complaining.

As for the demo, anytime we can get those cats to herd up like that, it's a good thing.

...I mean, if their money is allowed in Congress, their guns should also be allowed in Congress.

Here's a link to the Senators and Representatives that have "relationships" with the NRA:

Not even safe in a place with guards and all those nice people?

Why isn't the NRA complaining about that?

10. YEAR 2013: Rep. John Lewis adds arrest # 45 - after Peaceful SIT-IN Capitol ~ in 2013

2013

U.S. Rep. john Lewis, D-Atlanta, and seven other Democratic congressman were arrested today outside the Capitol in Washington, D.C., during an immigration protest.

According to Lewis' office, the civil rights icon was arrested at approximately 4:15 p.m. Buzzfeed reports that Lewis and fellow Congressmen Joe Crowley, Raul Grijalva, Luis Gutierrez, Jan Schakowsky, Keith Ellison, Al Green, Charlie Rangel joined more than 100 activists and started a "peaceful sit-in blocking a street in the front of the Capitol." The protest was part of the Camino Americano Rally for Immigrant Dignity and Respect, an effort to restart immigration reform in Congress.

Lewis has been placed in handcuffs "at least" 45 times, his spokeswoman says. He was arrested more than 40 times during the Civil Rights Movement. Since serving in Congress, he's been arrested five times.

"He was arrested twice at the South African embassy protesting apartheid, twice at the Embassy of the Sudan protesting genocide in Darfur and today he was arrested to demand dignity and respect for immigrants," his office said.
