Donald Trumps supporters appeared to further his feud with Sen. Elizabeth Warren, showing their ire by breaking into a stereotypical Native American war cry when her name was mentioned at Trumps Maine rally today -- a jab over Warren's claims about her heritage.
Conservative radio host Howie Carr brought up the liberal Massachusetts senator prior to Trump coming onto the stage at a Bangor, Maine rally.
"I heard Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren campaigning. You know Elizabeth Warren right? Carr told the crowd.
Carr was referring to the first joint campaign appearance of Clinton and Warren earlier this week in Ohio. Warren has served as a surrogate for Clinton and has been praised by Clintons campaign for her ability to take on Trump.
The mention of Warren by Carr led Trump supporters to chant, Pocahontas. When Carr put his hand to his mouth and began making a whooping noise to mimic a stereotypical Native American war cry, Trump supporters began to do so too.

(660 posts)that Trump really is a racist and that the crazy things he says are not just to appeal to racist elements in his audience. The perception that Trump is a genuine racist has now developed to the point that even his express denials that he's a racist are just seen as additional evidence that he is in fact a racist.
He should have nipped that perception in the bud. Instead, he chose to feed it.

(34,405 posts)And stupid as hell. She knows when she says provocative things that either he or his nasty supporters will do or say something offensive or worse, and any moderates out there watching the news will be less likely to vote for him.
They fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

(13,538 posts)a white kid in the 60's, I plead guilty. But at least the "Indian's" won sometimes when we were playing.
My junior high school was Sacajawea Jr. High and we were the "Sacajawea Savages". Named so because our local Native American tribe is the Nimiipuu, formerly known as the Nez Perce.
Shortly after I was done there, the mascot name was changed to "Braves". I had no problem with that.
On a side note. Our football team there, I mean our bunch that played together from 7th to 9th grade was something of a dynasty. We lost two games in three years. Both losses to those Native American guys from their main town Lapwai. They had a real, real, old school coach out there! They ran the old single wing offense from like the 30's! And they did it well. It was effective if you knew how to run it and had the horses, and they did! One week to practice and prepare for that thing was not enough. But we did beat them once at least. That was like 1973-1975. I think that guy still coached out there for at least another five years.
