Eww... Trump's Cabinet -- "Attorney General Chris Christie"

WASHINGTON ― Frustrated at the lack of enthusiasm for his vice presidential pick Mike Pence, Donald Trump is now telling those close to him that he wants a do-over of sorts, which he aims to get by rolling out the names of potential cabinet members, a source who spoke to Trump told The Huffington Post.

Trump was disappointed with the rollout of Pence, and the reaction to him, on several levels. He was first piqued that the news leaked before he’d gotten around to telling the runners-up, Newt Gingrich and Chris Christie, about his choice. He then had second thoughts, postponed the announcement and spent Thursday night trying to find a way to back out of his choice, according to multiple news reports and the source close to Trump.

Trump sees Pence as a politically safe but unexciting choice, the source said. When non-politicians fantasize about running for president, they delight in imagining the unorthodox, thrilling running mate they might choose. For Trump to have ended up paired with such a standard pol, after a year of violating every campaign norm in the book, must be a major letdown.

Multiple sources say that Trump wants to name Christie, the Republican governor of New Jersey, as his attorney general, although knowing Trump, he could change his mind at any moment. Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law who plays a major role in the campaign, fought against Christie as a VP pick, as reported this week by HuffPost blogger Laura Goldman and later corroborated elsewhere.

Retired Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, whom Trump at one point floated as a potential VP, will surely be on the short list for defense secretary, unless of course Kid Rock makes himself available.

1. Chris Christie bragged that he would end the adult use market of marijuana in legal states.

In addition for his scorn of legal adult cannabis use, Christie also attacks medical use. MarijuanaPolitics.com’s Anthony Johnson recent posted about how Chris Christie Will Enforce Federal Marijuana Laws, Doesn’t Matter if Sick Kids Will Benefit. The post features the pathetic video of the New Jersey father whose daughter was afflicted by constant seizures, begging the gruff governor for medical marijuana help in saving his daughter’s life, only to have his pleas rejected by the portly former prosecutor.

The good news is that the Christie’s presidential bid was a short-lived total failure. The bad news is that as Attorney General he would have the resources of the entire Justice Department to carry out his marijuana threats.

2. Respectfully, the reform of marijuana laws is your primary concern?

If Donald Trump becomes president and he were to name Governor Christie as Attorney General- or anyone else, for that matter- the reform of marijuana laws are pretty low on the list of concerns for the future of our country and I believe you'd agree, LAGC.

Let's not even start a list of worries because the disasters that a Trump Presidency would rain down on the world are countless.

4. Understandably, but giving Donald Trump control of the military?!

Before I go on, eShirl, let me unequivocally state that the drug laws and sentencing rules in the US are disgraceful, unfair and a complete waste of time, money and human beings. Besides, I like me some weed, too!

My concerns about a Donald Trump presidency begin with the security of the world. Image the nightmare of Mr. Trump having access to the most powerful military services and intelligence operatives in the history of humankind! I believe his access to the nuclear launch codes, for an extreme example, is more worrisome than whether an individual is sent to prison for a baggie of grass. Both are bad but one is clearly existential.

You and I and LAGC are not in disagreement. Mr. Trump would be a mega-disaster for the world and would probably mean the end of the American experiment in democracy. My response regarding the issues surrounding marijuana is simply that it's important to keep the broader perspective when discussing the terrors of a Trump White House.
