Your Support Has Attracted the Democratic Party's Attention
I listened to Gov. Perry’s concession speech this morning. All of Perry’s speeches remind me of NASCAR races – really long, and kind of boring to me. Unless there’s a crack-up.[br /]
But I know of one campaign that’s doing well. That’s ours.[br /]
Yesterday, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) named our campaign as one of only three in the country to earn the title of “Majority Maker,” which confers the national party’s highest level of support. [br /]
The DCCC’s endorsement brings help in communications, fieldwork, new media, fundraising, polling and campaign events. The DCCC also spent more than $80 million in independent expenditures in the last cycle, supporting its chosen candidates, with even more budgeted for this year.[br /]
When Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY), the Chairman of the DCCC, made this announcement, he specifically praised our “grassroots support.” [strong]That would be you.[/strong][br /]
And in another show of our People Power, when Blue America held a contest among 13 progressive House candidates on Tuesday, we beat them all. In fact, we beat our closest competitor by a margin of more than three to one.[br /]
I didn’t do that. [strong]We did it.[/strong][br /]
This Saturday marks the second anniversary of the odious [em]Citizens United[/em] decision, which gave huge multinational corporations and even foreign governments the “constitutional right” to saturate everything within our sight with their evil campaign propaganda. As we approach that sad milestone, it actually feels good to see all the progress that we are making in establishing a new model of campaigning, one that isn’t tainted and distorted by lobbyist and special interest sewer money.[br /]
