We often say of people whose behavior we cannot approve that they "mean well." By that, we're giving them the benefit of the doubt, and saying that they meant no real harm by the way they behaved.
That cannot be said of Donald Trump. He does not mean well in any way. He means ill. Sociopaths never "mean well." They simply mean to do what they wish to do, regardless of the consequences. That describes Donald Trump perfectly. Nothing matters to him but what benefits Donald Trump. Nothing.
Donald Trump does not mean well. He's just mean. He never means well. He will hurt anyone at any time, if it advances his goals. We must not let this narcissistic sociopath anywhere near the White House.

(115,681 posts)Trump has shown us who and what he is. It's impossible to draw any inference from his words and actions that he "means well." I have known a few people (probably most of us have) who behave like assholes, but someone always comes along and says, "Yeah, I know he's kind of obnoxious but I'm sure he means well." This might be because most of us want to be give people the benefit of the doubt and are reluctant to conclude that anyone really is a mean bastard at heart. I have learned the hard way that if someone behaves like an asshole, chances are excellent that he/she really is an asshole. When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

(26 posts)if you agree that something that goes over the fence last is the least desirable part then T RUMP is the word to use.

(115,681 posts)maybe "asshole" and its synonyms are the wrong words. Everybody needs an asshole; nobody needs Trump.
