Let's Show Bernie Some Love

Its been too long since we really showed him some admiration. Towards the end of the primaries, I made a few accusations against Sanders. I said he was only in it for his ego and that I didn't trust him. I have admitted many times since then that I was 100% wrong. He could have sat on his hands and destroy Clinton by refusing to support her after the primaries but he has gone all in for Hillary. Sanders is working his ass off and doing a lot of heavy lifting, even though it probably isn't always easy for him He is a class act and an all around great guy.

Clinton owes him a massive debt now. Hopefully she can pull some strings and get him into a leadership position in the senate or even one of several cabinet positions, if he was interested. I don't know what his post-election plans and goals are but the dems would be wise to get him to wherever he wants to go.

I think Hillary will rely on him as he takes a leadership position. You're right--she owes him, big time, and I think he will make use of that debt to see that the positions he holds keep the traction he got in the run-up to the nomination.

He and Elizabeth Warren will be the powerhouse Senators for our liberal causes.

I expect great things from both of them.

And likely get loyalists installed at the DNC. I've said before that I think he is the Democrat's Barry Goldwater (not in the bigot, crazy way). He may have lost this election but his influence of the democratic party will likely last decades.

Sanders' ability to "destroy" Hillary by withholding his support. Over 80% of his genuine supporters immediately moved to support Hillary -- as they had always intended to -- when she won. They're mostly liberals who considered her a good secondary option, and their decisions were made many months before his.

Sanders' conservative spoiler voters went where they were always going for the GE -- to Trump.

Sanders may have persuaded some of the mostly radical remainder to follow him to support of the Democratic candidate, but he still has work to do if he's going to bring along most of those who are angry with him for supporting her. He won't be able to.

I do agree that Sanders is doing what is morally and ethically required of all Americans: Working to defeat Trump and all he stands for.

a President trying to influence Senators to vote one way or the other on party issues is a recipe for disaster. They are kind of like 100 separate Presidents.

Hillary should thank him and leave it to Majority Leader Shumer to do the right thing.

And he will. Bernie is now a major player. A huge change from a couple of years ago when he was a gladfly. A real win for America.

And he flat out refuses. Most people would at least taken the low road one time but he is having none of it. And I am sure that is quite difficult. He is looking out for the greater good, which is something I was skeptical of during the primaries.

The second she conceded she got out on the road for him, as did her husband.

As she should have done.

It's what Democrats do. They don't "score points or get even" never mind "take the low road" -- they elect more Democrats to public office. He is doing what he is supposed to do as a person who has affiliated himself with our party for many decades, now.

I don't really like the tone of this thread, frankly. It's divisive.

I've known about Sanders since probably 2005 but never paid much attention to him until 2015. I'm sure his diehard supporters can make a list a mile long of the good work that he has done but I know what I have seen with my own eyes in the last year and I was certainly wrong to doubt that he was genuine.

Patiently and persistently explaining to would-be Stein or Johnson voters what a terrible mistake that would be. That's not an easy job, and Bernie is the best person for it. Thank you Bernie!
