If this is where he is going I cannot follow him, he wrote in a Twitter barrage.Ronald Reagans son (Michael) is lashing out against Donald Trump, expressing his disbelief and disappointment that the man running for president on the GOP ticket technically represents the same party his father once did.
No way do I or would my father support this garbage, Michael Reagan wrote in a tweetstorm Sunday night, linking to a Politico article dissecting Trumps latest comments on Hillary Clinton, his opponent, whom he accused of being unfaithful to former President Bill Clinton.
If this is where he is going I cannot follow him, he continued, adding that his father would have probably reacted by saying something like: I didnt leave the Party, the Party left me.
Reagan also urged Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, to take a stand against Trump.
Getting [to] a Point with Trump where I just dont give a shit, Reagan wrote.
Michael Reagan @ReaganWorld
My father would not support this kind of campaign,if this is what the Republican Party wants leave us Reagans out.Nancy would vote for HRC
Michael Reagan @ReaganWorld
Jane Wyman was my mother but I can tell u that Nancy would vote for Hillary and was appalled to hear people say he reminds them of RR.

(13,340 posts)I actually always enjoy listening to Ron. He's very liberal, but manages to hold his father in some affection, even when he disagrees with him.

(5,106 posts)Michael was always a conservative and seemed a bit of a jerk. But good for him this time.

There is not any person who does not try to figure a way to pay less in taxes.

Why do we care about anyone's taxes?I want my POTUS to be successful...Its about where we are going not where we have been..Think Aleppo

(128,527 posts)to see if I can discover some sort of consistency or pattern. It seems his beef with Trump is his lack of discipline and over-focussing on frivolous stuff (like the Miss Universe or made-up crap like Hillary not being loyal to Bill, which he went off on). The "business/taxes/wealth" of a candidate is apparently not important or relevant to him in terms of supporting someone.
He sounds like an elitist loon on twitter (I have listened to him on and off over the years via his talk show or appearances on shows, so I know he is as far right as they come with the characteristic hard edged anger that characterizes that kind... but without going into Alex Jones/CT type territory).
I get the feeling that he doesn't think Trump is as polished or principled as his father, and the more that time goes on, the more he has started throwing the party under the bus via tweets.

(58,724 posts)As long as Trump sticks to the script, Michael R is totally fine with him.
In fact, it seems like his real issue is that Trump isn't right-wing enough.

(9,944 posts)...my like for him went up a notch... from nothing; it was non-existent. He's 100% correct about Nancy voting for Hillary Clinton and it's nice to see he mentioned Jane Wyman adopted him, not Nancy. Hope more conservatives see the light... they've been putting up with the hateful bigot vote for too long.

But NO!!!!
This was from the biggest douchebag and most conservative of the Raygun kids. When you're a RW loon and you lose Michael, you've lost.
