KY Gov Bevin urges pastors to "ignore" federal laws and get political!

wkyufm.org/post/video-gov-bevin-calls-pastors-get-political#stream/0

He's back! In the running for the worst Rep Gov.

snip:
Gov. Matt Bevin told a group of ministers assembled at the governor’s mansion last week to ignore a federal law that forbids tax-exempt churches from advocating for the election or defeat of political candidates.

A crowd of about 130 church leaders from across the state attended the invite-only and unpublicized “Pastor Appreciation Forum” held at the governor’s residence.

An attendee named Ken Prevett, an investment consultant from Harrodsburg, originally posted the video to his Facebook page, which shows Bevin encouraging a group of pastors to disregard the Johnson Amendment, a section of the federal tax code passed in 1954.

A Facebook group called Kentuckians Against Matt Bevin has been circulating the video, which shows Bevin encouraging pastors to disregard the Johnson Amendment, a change to federal tax code passed in 1954.

He has replaced boards, which he had no authority to do. he has cut education spending, which he had no authority to do. So far he has had four of his actions challenged in court, and l had rulings against him. now he has hired an IN firm to investigate the previous governor's two terms in office, to the sum of about $500K. They have found nothing. He is using the same playbook used by Walker in WI and Brownback in KS.

Bevin is the result of people staying home and not voting. He was elected by 16% of the possible electorate. 16%! Th eother guy got 13%. Less than 30% of the voters showed up on election day.

Did Kim Davis get her "special dispensation" to avoid having to issue same-sex marriage certificates like he (and some members of the legislature) promised too?

Federal Law does not forbid "tax-exempt churches from advocating for the election or defeat of political candidates." They can do it, but they will lose their tax exemption. Seems like a small price to pay if it's something they feel passionate about.
