2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTrump's overexposure
Trump supporters claim that he's a masterful media manipulator. However, I think the case can be made that people are sick of him. The link is an old article from 2012, but it already mentions Donald Trump:

The reality is that its truly hard for any one person or organization to get so much positive exposure that people just get sick of you. You can make the case this happened to Madonna in the 1982 and the Jennifer Lopez in the early 00s. And to Donald Trump for the last 25 years.
Trump is now lagging in the polls, but any many he spends on commercials may just be a waste.

(7,572 posts)I cannot stand to see his face or hear his yelling any more..I have plenty of other channels I can watch and avoid him completely. Hopefully when the election is over, he will fall into some deep dark hole and we will never have to see or hear him again.

And the highest card will be the Queen of Hearts. He's got nothing but the deuce of Clubs. When the final bid ends in notrump, the highest card played in the suit that has been led wins the trick. More contracts are played at notrump than in any of the four suits.

(36,437 posts)He's a terrible candidate who is entirely unfit for the office he's seeking (or any other, truth be told), and the American people, by and large, tend not to go in for that kind of shit.

HE made his presence known on the island of Manhattan in the mid 70's, a brash Adonis from the outer boroughs bent on placing his imprint on the golden rock. Donald John Trump exhibited a flair for self-promotion, grandiose schemes - and, perhaps not surprisingly, for provoking fury along the way.
Senior realty titans scoffed, believing that braggadocio was the sum and substance of the blond, blue-eyed, six-footer who wore maroon suits and matching loafers, frequented Elaine's and Regine's in the company of fashion models, and was not abashed to take his armed bodyguard-chauffeur into a meeting with an investment banker.
The essence of entrepreneurial capitalism, real estate is a business with a tradition of high-rolling megalomania, of master builders striving to erect monuments to their visions. It is also typically dynastic, with businesses being transmitted from fathers to sons and grandsons, and carried on by siblings. In New York, the names of Tishman, Lefrak, Rudin, Fisher, Zeckendorf come to mind.
And now there is Trump, a name that has in the last few years become an internationally recognized symbol of New York City as mecca for the world's super rich.

(37,428 posts)Exposure was never going to go well for him. Once the media started doing their fucking jobs, Trump's mythology began falling apart. His image was always as fragile as his ego, neither being able to stand much pressure.
He's still way UNDERexposed, if not in the sense the OP meant.
