"SNIP............

The US labor market has not looked this good since the 1970s, judging solely by initial jobless claims.

The number of first-time filings for unemployment insurance fell to 249,000 last week, according to the Department of Labor.

That's just 1,000 more than the lowest level of this economic cycle, in April.

The four-week average of claims, which evens out some of the week-by-week volatility, fell by 2,500, to 253,500, the lowest level since December 8, 1973.

mostly at retail or fast food places.

I am retired but if I lost my job before, I could not cover everything working retail.

Having a job is letting far too many Americans down. Jobs with few or no benefits, like health insurance. Poverty wages. Chaotic and undependable work schedules. A lack of affordable child care for working parents already stressed by the failure of the economic recovery to reach most working Americans. The need to pay out of pocket for items necessary to work, e.g. tools, appropriate clothing, a personal automobile, or professional licensing. Etc.

The standard of economic health should not be how many people are employed. It should be whether people are economically secure because of their employment.

Trump wants to turn it all back to the warmed over Reaganomics of the Bush years, or worse.

He brought the country back from the abyss, and deserves the credit some here are apparently unwilling to give him.

He will be missed. And America knows it. It's one of the reasons his approval rating has been ticking up since the 2016 cycle started.

obstructed at every turn by Repubs, and sometimes deserted by his own party.

I hope Dems have learned something from the Obama years.

From GOP members of congress and their racist GOP constituencies.

Zero white presidents have had their state of the union interrupted by racist lowlifes.
