sensible--at least somewhat, enough to make them worth listening to--in the minds of those who regard "others" with inborn conservative suspicion. It's hugely important to understand that. Only a subset of conservatives add active hostility to the mix, and some of those hate.

It's those subsets who are humanity's problem. The others can deal decently and responsibly with a mobile, diverse world, but they've been pulled the wrong direction and poisoned by associating in one party with the hostile ones. Joined together, though, they are HALF of all Americans.

And, yes, she and what she's saying are despicable.
