2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMy acquaintance on the"other side" of the Hill just texted me (NBC confirms)
Serious whispered conversations happening on just pretending they don't have a presidential nominee among at least a few of the Capital Hill creatures.
Many of the staffers have now completely written the election off.
I might have sent the big smile emoji to him in response...
NBC just tweeted a similar conversation as mine. It is universal!
Trump campaign staffer: This one matters ... I dont even want to say what I think, but no idea how can be spun in Trump campaign favor.

(19,558 posts)We need to GOTV still. We need the down-ticket votes, and right now we're in a great position to make some serious gains!
Sorry for the tiny burst of negative (?) in such a glorious moment!

(6,241 posts)and I will continue to conduct myself like that until January 21st.
There are still people that will support him no matter what. We don't know how many of them there are, so best just to continue on as we are until January.

(11,132 posts)but NBC was going to hold it until after the town-hall. Someone at NBC thought screw that and sent it on their own to Farenthold. Props to that person whoever they are.

Remember when the GOP referred to 'Wine Wednesdays' during their bogus Benghazi investigation? I imagine every day is wine day for the Trump staff now.
Sweet, isn't it?

(11,949 posts)That you are incorrect. In Florida it is already too late. Trump's name is on the Ballot. Now, they could try to insure that his delegates would be faithless and all vote for the same 'fill in'. And then try to broadcast to all Americans that voting for Trump is actually voting for the 'fill in'. But the basket filled with the deplorables will go ape shit crazy.
I think this may actually be the first time in a long time that Liberals are going to actually destroy the republicans. But I am not over confident. We HAVE to GOTV!

(58,785 posts)legally turn over the duties of the presidency to his vice president and remain as a figurehead president.
(Who knows. Since he wouldn't be needed in the White House, maybe he might choose to be our first reality cable show President. My speculation, not Vox's.)
George II
(67,782 posts).....people who want to vote for their new candidate would have to use the write-in line, not the republican line.
Knowing how stupid republican voters are, they'd probably screw it up and still vote for Trump.

(4,033 posts)It is even worse for them. Whoever they pick it is going to be someone that people never voted for, who doesn't have any time to put forth a coherent policy, who doesn't have any time to put himself forward as 'Presidential'.
And the GOP is right now trying how best to stop the absolute hemorrhaging down-ballot.

(1,035 posts)It was too late to jump ship on Trump. If you continued to endorse him after he said all the vile, bigoted things about brown and black people, jumping ship now because he's a sexual predator against white women (where's that fainting couch?) just reconfirms to racial minorities that the GOP only cares about whites.
