Then what? Does the GOP convene a convention to anoint a new VP choice, like the Dems did in 1972? First Speaker Oct 2016 #4
Why would they need a convention? LisaL Oct 2016 #14
I think their rules call for the RNC to vote to approve any choice. pnwmom Oct 2016 #16

I just realized I haven't heard anything out of Christie regarding this latest development. Has he said anything at all?

...what in God's name happens then? Does Trump name the replacement? Would the convention ignore him, and name their own choice? Could they reopen the whole nomination itself, and replace Trump with Pence, or Ryan, or anybody? And all in four weeks? Jesus H Christ on a hobbyhorse...get me the popcorn...

Most normal candidates consult with advisors but I don't think they have to. Trump never wanted Pence, he wanted Gingrich. I'm sure thst washed up toad would be up for it.

He'll stay "for the sake of the GOP". I'm calling BS (though I've been wrong countless times before).

You'd have to think some of the Drumpfmacht will be gunning for him...and I don't mean figuratively.
