A powerful Hollywood ally of Donald Trump has threatened staffers who could release potentially damaging outtakes of the show, a source close to Mark Burnett told BuzzFeed News.

Burnett, the producer of The Apprentice, and his production company have not responded to requests for comment from BuzzFeed News and many other outlets since grotesque outtakes from another show rocked Trump’s campaign Friday, even as former staffers have suggested on Twitter (without clear evidence) that The Apprentice material could be just as damaging.
But the person familiar with Burnett’s thinking told BuzzFeed News that the producer is backing his star.re

In 2008, Burnett and Downey each gave the maximum donation permissible to Barack Obama's presidential campaign. After Obama won the White House, Burnett donated a hefty $30,400 to the Democratic National Committee. In the previous election cycle, Downey, who starred in the television show Touched by an Angel, supported John Kerry's presidential bid. In 2013, Burnett gave $5,200 to Alison Grimes, a Democrat who was challenging Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell. Last September, Downey sent a donation to Kathleen Matthews, a Democrat (and the wife of MSNBC's Chris Matthews) who was running for a congressional seat in suburban Maryland outside of Washington, DC.

Seeing Burnett interviewed with his wife about the Bible mini series. He was asked is there anything he would have done different in regards to the production. He said his friends pointed out that they didn't have many or any I forget which, people of color portrayed.
So if these tapes do involve the N word I can see them being released.

Burnett and Downey have history of being Democratic supporters and contributors to Kerry, Obama and DNC. But they have a lot at stake since their primary audience for their religious shows are the Evangelical Fundies, who are supporting Trump/Pence in overwhelming numbers.

Interesting that Burnett denied helping with Repub Convention after Repubs repeatedly claimed he was helping and that he would bring them in huge ratings and make Melania a star like Jackie Kennedy. Wouldn't surprise me if Burnett secretly "helped" Trump by writing Melania's speech which backfired but Trump couldn't admit they were tricked and blame Burnett because Burnett had control of damning anti-Trump video, so Trump invented the Meredith McIver excuse. This is just one possible scenario I have pondered to explain the weird plagiarism and rick roll. Strange stuff going on with Burnett playing both sides.
