My 14 year old daughter...

Wanted me to turn on the radio..I had muted it, due to the language and implications. I told her it was not appropriate. She was taken aback, and told me that she was in high school now, and was a big girl and could handle things, I should let her listen. So I turned up the volume. She heard for a few minutes and told me : "Mommy, please turn it off". I cried in my heart.

My 10 year old daughter does not understand the meaning, and keeps asking me to explain it. I have banned both from watching the debate live today (in spite of it being homework at school). I will record it and then decide.

It's a really sad state of affairs.

7. In the past there was a lot less need to be ready to bleep out 'political discourse'

We had debate watch homework certainly by middle school. (Of course I already had a file full of clipped articles -from actual newspapers- to back my particular viewpoints!)

Including the existence of rape culture and misogynism. It's more about the bragging of sexual assault than "lewd: words. Tell her, and let her as the questions. She's ten, that's old enough.

then you can tell her your family values and how wrong this is. When my kids were that age, I was always shocked when years later I heard about what was discussed and done at a very young age by some of their friends.

coming to you with questions. A lot of kids don't have that kind (or want) of relationship with their parents.
