Why didn't this tape with Billy Bush come out when Trump was still in a race with Jeb?

Not sure how those network jobs work, but I'm almost willing to bet that having their on air personalities sign one is SOP.

The blowup over Machado made someone recall that Trump had taped that segment. They didn't remember specifics but dug it up in the archives and played it to see if there was anything newsworthy on it.

When there was, they were a little slow deciding how to proceed. They gave it to NBC news division, and while the News division was sitting on it afraid of a lawsuit, someone leaked it to the Washington Post, who told NBC they were running with the story, so NBC did too.

Whether you believe it went down that way is on you.
