vote for anyone other than a Pub all down the ballot, or stay home out of disgust. I doubt if any will vote for Hillary, but staying home is more effective.

3. It's not enough. It helps take votes away from Republicans. But only Democratic votes elect Democrat

4. I would be ashamed to demonstrate such a lack of understanding how voting works, Bernie.

Less votes for Trump-supporting Republicans increases the strength of Democratic voters everywhere, by lowering the number of votes necessary to win.

5. Whoosh-duh. What part of "It's not enough" do you not understand?

Think of a district where previous vote counts were (for example) 2,000 R and 900 D. There are many that are that lopsided (but of course all districts have many more votes than that -- just an example).

If 1,000 Republicans stay home and 1,000 go to the polls to vote R and 900 Democrats go to the polls to vote D, then the R still wins.

Got to have more Democrat votes than Republican to win seats.

What part of "It's not enough" do you not understand?

Democrats still have to Get Out The Vote. If you haven't heard of GOTV before you've heard it now.

6. No independents in Pazland, huh? Of course the analogy is as bad as the logic behind it.

Clinton's poll numbers are rising because independents are switching to her side, not deciding to stay home.

7. Well duh, an Indep. voting in the D column is a vote for a D. That's the point of GOTV !

Holding back Rs and votes for Rs is not enough.

Got to get votes recorded and tabulated in the D column. It doesn't matter whether they come from Ds or Is or even Rs! Got have them in the D column.

Hence the Democratic & HRC ground game, which basically equals GOTV. You think they only call registered Democrats? Nope.

8. Same logic in my example applies when counting Independents.

It is not an analogy, it is an example. An analogy would use a domain, a different field of endeavor. By definition. Logically.

Think of a district where previous vote counts were (for example) 2,000 R and 900 D. The R votes could be 1,500 from Republicans and 500 from Independents and the D votes could be 400 from Indep and 500 from Democrats. There are many that are that lopsided (but of course all districts have many more votes than that -- just an example).

If 500 Republicans stay home and 1,000 go to the polls to vote R and 500 I vote R and 500 Democrats and 400 Indep go to the polls to vote D, then the R still wins.

Republicans staying home will not be sufficient in many districts that the Democrat can win if the Democrats get out the vote.

That means Democrats getting out D and I and even R voters who will put votes in the D column. That's what Get Out The Vote means.

9. Votes in D column better than even abstention, especially in lop-sided districts.

I have made the same choice as you...my wife is going one step
further, in order to further the end of the detestable Republican
Party (and to “burn it all down”), she is voting Trump then straight
party Democrat. Her thought is that she will cast her protest vote for
Trump and then in order to speed along the destruction of the regime,
let them do their very worst - full on communism/fascism and let the
people suffer as they should for their stupidity.

I can’t say she’s wrong.

On edit: To be explicit, since it now seems necessary to be explicit, these RW posts are presented to address the Original Post's question in the context of the idea that votes in the Democratic column are needed for Democratic Party candidates to win. It shows members here that the tRump core has people who are ready to abstain (not vote R) or even vote D in a protest against the Republican Party's leadership.
