(30,058 posts)This is good news, I have worked on election day in the past few years and noticed a greater number of black females was voting and then more black males, I thought this is great. This will be a big thorn in Trump's side, when the voting is counted he will know the Mexicans, Muslims and Blacks has beat him. A good message to send to those who wants to continue to disparage ethnic groups.

(14,853 posts)I'm a white male, but most of the voters were African American. It seems like a safe bet that most of them voted for Hillary!
I was also thankful that I didn't see any Trump supporters outside the building. There was just a small group of Democratic supporters more than 100 feet from the building, cheerfully handing out information.

black vote. I made the bet about 6 months ago and now think he will
get at least 30%.

Trump. I know quite a few blacks here in the suburbs of Chicago that
will vote for him. They have NEVER voted for a GOP candidate before.

he'll bring in roughly 50% more "new" voters than have voted in
history. That is, last cycle's GOP totals plus 50% new.
Massive mandate landslide, epochal change back to what worked so well
for 200 years. This nation will turn our face back to God, and He has
promised to "heal our land."

(9,650 posts)It fell while reading those posts. My God, how delusional can they be? I live in a blue state,
but my little corner of the world is mostly repuke. I think I'll stay indoors for a few days
after the vote, as I really don't want to have to sweep up the exploding brains that are going to be
all over the streets around my house.
I can't WAIT to hear them having to say 'President Clinton' again.

(58,785 posts)Personally, I'd go when I knew they'd be there so I could give them their hate stares right back. Take the pepper spray if it made me feel better, leave the children home (even if they are bigger than me now).

(24,555 posts)whether they should be or not. Trump has attracted and riled up some very unsavory people, many of whom are armed and not too bright. I will not be afraid to vote, but I do not have a Hillary sign in my yard or on my car, even though I had both for Obama. The local crazies are just too rabid this time around.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)but it was taking on contentious battles like bad HOA boards and such. A single visit to the polls she could handle. She had the good sense not to worry about something that probably wouldn't happen, and knowing her, she'd be at least a little disappointed when it didn't.
Btw, do your local election authorities expect trouble? If so, I hope they and the community are taking steps to reassure and secure the safety of all those elderly people. Seems to me with all those gas-guzzling SUVs out there no old lady should have to go vote alone.

(24,555 posts)In past elections we have heard of ridiculously long lines in large cities which can be a problem for elderly and disabled people, as well as confrontations/intimidation of minority and young voters.
