Charlie Cook: This election is over.

Cook has a reputation for cautious, non-partisan analysis, and he’s frequently consulted by both political parties.
His call on the presidential race late Thursday night caused an immediate stir on social media.

Asked by The Hill to explain what it was about the Oct. 13 Fox News poll that caused him to declare the race over, Cook said it was a number of factors.

“Poll was devastating for Trump, from start to finish,” Cook said via email on Friday.

“Trial heats, favorable/unfavorable, candidate attributes, trust on handling issues, role model for children — all horrific for Trump.”

The Fox News poll, conducted by telephone with live interviewers, sampled the opinions of 1,006 registered voters nationwide from Monday through Wednesday.

The poll shows support for the Republican nominee cratering.

being smeared by anyone except himself. He's blaming everybody else he can think of, but his polling is tanking and he's taken to vandalizing teleprompters.

pay for the teleprompters. Or Lester Holt.

He has several options, actually.

Lester Holt: "I'm not paying for the fucking teleprompters!"

Over a certain threshold -- 8 percent? 9 percent? -- between Hillary's popular vote total and Trump's, we get both the House and the Senate.

That would make for a very fine evening.

Maybe it's my pre-election jitters, but I don't believe in breaking out the champagne until the votes are in. I want all Hillary voters & backers to hustle as if she were 10 points in the hole.

Get out and vote! (Or mail in your ballot ASAP!)

Vote, vote early if your state has that option, mail in, etc.

AND...

Get your friends and neighbors out there. Help them if they need it. Make sure they're registered and that their registration is updated/current. If possible, join the campaign's GOTV work. As Michelle said, knock on doors, make calls, talk to everybody you know.

People need to stop saying this. We need to GOTV. We can say she won when all of the votes are counted November 8th. Until then, we haven't WON.
