2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOne of the best personal testimonies to Hillary's compassion and character I've seen.
I'm re-posting the most important part of the link in the OP referenced below because, given the relatively mild response, I think people may not have taken the trouble to go to the link and scroll down. It is a Facebook post from a gay man who has known Hillary well his whole life.

Ive known Hillary Clinton since my early childhood. She and my mother have been best friends since they were little girls growing up in Park Ridge, IL. As a child, I knew Hillary not as a powerful attorney, child advocate or the First Lady of Arkansas, but rather as Chelseas mom a warm, funny lady who taught me how copious amounts of hot sauce on your scrambled eggs will keep you healthy.
To see Hillary portrayed as an evil, conniving criminal is baffling to me. Throughout my life, I have only known her as my moms most supportive and loving friend. Hillary took me on my first roller coaster ride when I was 12 years old. She spoke at my high school commencement ceremony and took photos with every single one of my classmates. The woman who signs her letters as Aunt Hillary congratulated me when I came out of the closet, when I got my pilots license, when I married my husband and when we adopted our baby girl. She checked in with my family regularly while my mom underwent surgery and treatment for breast cancer.
I often send Hillary photos of my daughter and she always writes me back immediately, telling me which photo is her favorite and how she cant wait to give the little one a squeeze.
Hillary has included me and my husband in countless events over the years and always greets us with warmth and sincere affection. Several times, weve had the privilege to sit down with her and swap stories and, let me tell you, this woman can tell one hell of a story. Her dry wit rivals some of the best sit-com writers Ive had the pleasure to work with. Ive even witnessed her make her husband Bill laugh until he has tears streaming out of his eyes.
So it truly pains me to see this smart, caring woman made out to be some sort of monster. I dont know if I should blame the scandal hungry media, a right wing conspiracy or her current political opponent, but whatever the case, I can promise you that Hillary Clinton is, as my mom puts it, a good girl. I am truly blessed to know her and to have been raised with her as a role model of how one can be driven and accomplished while remaining humble, personable and kind.
When you cast your vote for Hillary, I just want you to know youre backing not only the most qualified presidential candidate in history, but a real person, a woman who values family, friendship and service to her fellow Americans above all else. Youll be sending a message to my daughter that she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to. Youll be electing a good girl. So for the next few weeks, put a few extra drops of Tabasco on your omelette the American people need you to be healthy on November 8!

(13,305 posts)I have admittedly never been a fan. Some of it legitimate policy and position differences. Some of it I'm ashamed to admit, bits of media bullshit seeping through. Not proud to admit that but it's true.
At the start of this general election campaign I was nothing more than a "Not Trump" guy and not really a "Yes Hillary!" guy.
But the way she's campaigned. The way she has maintained her dignity. The more stories I hear about Hillary the person and not Hillary the political monolith the more I come to be proudly and enthusiastically voting for her in a few weeks.
I dread the job she has in front of her. I dread the continued ugliness that will confront her and us, which I'm afraid is going to make what President Obama faced seem like child's play.
She will make mistakes. She's going to do things that will infuriate me and anger me. But I am now confident that I will be placing my vote for a decent, kind human being that will do what she thinks is the right thing and genuinely wants what is best for this country.

(51,076 posts)will kick ass and not bother with names once she is inaugurated President. This is a woman who has put up with some extremely ugly shit for a long ass time. Hell, damn near half of her life so I don't see her having any problem with republiCON bullshit and calling it what it is.
What more could they throw at her? Sees seen it all and felt every bump. By now to most people, they can believe down deep inside that they've been duped into a mind set, (I was so I know,) that simply wasn't true. A witch hunt would be a good description to what they, ('CONs,) have done to her for pretty much all of her adult life.
I say fuck the bunch of 'm, republiCONs that is
I find myself having a hard time staying in the presence of a republiCON, friend or foe for much longer than a hi and bye
Its not me their fucking with that pisses me off but what they're doing to the young in this country. We're heading from a proud manufacturing, farming, you name it society to a server society. It sucks, if the 'CONs win this one, the damage that will be done to these young kids will in a lot of ways be next to impossible to correct, or take longer than a single lifetime at any rate
Almost all of the 'CONs I know vote for them based on one or all of the 3 great sins, (to them and their imaginary sky guy,) of guns, gays and abortion,
Born and raised here and too old and lazy to move so I put up with what I have too and turn away from what I don't
Peace

Very impressed she is still close to a friend from sixth grade.
There are many stories about how she is caring and warm. It seems the people who actually know her really like her.

(7,997 posts)Hillary is one of the best. She doesn't have that magical charisma in a speech, but she works hard and knows how to try to make things happen. I am proudly and enthusiastically voting for her in Florida.
