and warned about voting for Hillary in a Facebook message.

You know the drill, voting for Hillary is Obama's third term, religious people with be persecuted before the end of her term both she an Obama will have this country in irreversible ruins. She told me to watch FOX News, where I will find out "the truth" about the Clintons, their lying and oppressive empire. Sean Hannity couldn't have said it better. She is really a nice person but apparently when it comes to politics Ms. Hyde appears. We have a family gathering next month. It should be very interesting.

Such is life in the middle of Trumpette country. The crazy thing is I never mentioned anything to her about who I am voting for. I 'liked' some FB memes that made fun of Savior Donald Grump and she saw them, Religious persecution? What is Hillary going to do, send Christians to a "holiday camp" in Buchenwald, Idaho? "The truth"? I had all I could do to keep from laughing.

Shortly after that I confided in a good friend who is a self avowed Reagan conservative Republican and someone I can disagree with but can shake hands and talk about sports and music afterwords. He told me he feels my pain. He can't wait for this election cycle to be over and his opinion of the orange Uncle Bigly is not a good one. He thinks Drumpf is a huge phony and will never vote for him. Nice to know there is a little sanity in the world.

Maybe we can have a post election intervention followed by deprogramming for people like my relatives that spend their waking hours on FAUX and wing nut radio. Wish me luck on the family gathering. I might be placed in a table by the bathrooms but I will at least have a clear head, at least until the Leinenkugals kick in.

1. I think there is no going back

I believe that the so-called populist uprising in the Democratic and Republican parties will be permanent. The Sanders supporters who were Democrats likely will remain Democrats and will strengthen the party's Progressive wing. The Sanders people who were not Democrats will remain outside the party and likely outside of our political system.

Trump supporters will have difficulty remaining in the Republican Party. In the aftermath, there will be a lot of blame and finger-pointing and anger and sorrow. And the Trump supporters will burrow down further into their lunacy.

This is our Fate. I am expecting to distance myself from any Trump supporters in my family or friends circle.

2. I feel your pain.

I have several relatives, including my sister who say that they are voting for that jerk! I have not been confronting them because I know it will do no good! It just reinforces my decision many years ago to move across the Country to a Blue State. I just cannot stand listening to their rhetoric. And when I have presented them with facts in the past they blatantly ignore them. I have given up on trying to talk to them and it does sadden me but for my sanity I just stay out of any discussions about politics with them!
Sorry that you are having to deal with similar circumstances, it can be tough.

I'm resigned to the reality that the end of this election cycle crap will lead to the post election cycle crap which will last oh, about 3+ years. Maybe by then I will move out of Trumpette country. One can always hope.

10. I've heard about this movie

but like everything else life intervenes and you forget about it.

I'll need to get this movie. This is a personal thing for me.

I have a lifelong friend. We were very close. I could start a sentence and he could finish it word for word of how I was thinking. That's how close we were. We would share stories of Dubya stealing the election and the blood for oil Iraq war. He has been self-employed for years.

After Obama became president he changed dramatically. He emailed me a link and the email title was 'This guy gets it.' The link was a two minute Rush Limbaugh rant about some nonsense. I emailed back saying something must have gotten crossed up. You sent me a Limbaugh link by mistake. He anwsered back saying No No. Listen to what Rush says and tell me he isn't right. My thinking is 'Oh shit. We have a problem here.' He bought the whole right wing agenda. By the 2012 election things came to a head. He sent me emails begging me to vote for Mitt 'to save the country from the tyranny of Emperor Obama's second term.' I traded emails with him that weekend I pretty much told him I need to remain true to myself and told him to turn off the radio and read some history. His final email to me was something like 'If you don't vote for Romney you are voting for the ultimate total destruction of this country. We have nothing more to discuss.'

I haven't heard from him since. Judging from this movie trailer, this is exactly what is going on.

13. My mother was a JFK democrat

participated in the country party a bit, ended up doing part time work for an elected democrat.

She started watching CNN when it first came onto the scene and got hooked.

She hated Reagen and really got into Iran Contra, but thought that Ollie North was great - that was the first blip for me.

I was in my early 20s at the time, naturally lined up with my mother on politics, but while I was still young about politics, my bullshit detector was pretty clear on the whole thing, including North.

As the 90s progressed she moved from CNN to Fox, and every now and again I picked up on changes in her views. She was getting older and was slipping mentally.

I took her out for lunch during the 2004 elections and still remember to this day, sitting in Wendy's with her going off about how embarrassing Howard Dean was. Dean was her kind of democrat going back, but at that point I knew they had her hook, line and sinker.
