Over 37,000 Clark County voters turned out for day one of early voting, set record

LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) — Clark County officials say 37,138 people have participated in the first day of early voting as of 6 p.m. Saturday.

That number is expected to rise as many sites planned to remain open for another 1 - 2 hours.

Today's early voter turnout has already reached a new record, beating the previous high of 33,182 from the 2012 general election's first day of early voting.

A steady stream of people filed into dozens of early polling locations including one at the Galleria Mall.

Many early voters said that convenience and the high-stakes presidential race were the top motivators for voting early.
A majority of voters in Nevada cast their ballots early in the two weeks before Election Day – between now and Friday, November 4.
