They think the fact that oversampling means Trump's blathering of rigged polls has been vindicated.

In reality, it just means focusing on specific demographics when doing an internal poll for a media buy.

Anyone who knows the first thing about polling could have explained that an oversample is conducted to ensure a low enough margin of error for a particular group you want to know more about, and that taking an oversample is not the same thing as overweighting that group in the general population poll.

Obviously it is lost on them. If you poll 1,000 people but want to pull an individual snapshot of say Hispanics...a 200 or so sample isn't enough to parse down that demo. So you oversample the Hispanics to get maybe an N of 600 or 800. These people are DUM.

Most of the people on JPR support Stein and lap up any criticism of Clinton. One difference between JPR and DU, however, is that both sides of the Clinton vs. Stein argument may be expressed there. I myself have posted about Bernie's endorsement of Clinton. In the specific thread discussing polling methodology that you make fun of, there is a lot of erroneous thinking, but there's also a good explanation of "oversampling".

People whose impression of JPR is formed from posts on DU should realize that it's a cross-section from the small end of the log.
