(58,511 posts)Republicans typically do better with absentee vote by mail, although we caught up with them in Florida.

(9,067 posts)many GOP neighbors and seniors vote by mail. I'm still optimistic that Florida will be blue!

(13,570 posts)they are probably citing mail-in ballots where R's ALWAYS have done more but this year the D's virtually closed that gap with the R's only a tiny bit ahead. Now it is in-person early voting and Dem early in-person voting is very high. Record Hispanic turnout.
Not sure about GA.

(9,580 posts)Kentucky doesn't have "early voting," however, they allow voting by absentee ballot under certain circumstances, which I did. And I sent my ballot in early - like two weeks or so ago.

(2,056 posts)I had to go back and edit this because I was wrong on the early voting date. It starts in 4 days, which is when I'm going to vote.
Whoops!
(Edited again because other areas are voting now.)

(1,737 posts)started yesterday Oct 24th. Lines were long where I live in broward county. Many women brought their kids and were very enthusiastically voting for Hillary. Met some wonderful people while waiting in line. Took me a little over an hour to get to vote.
Trump only has a few thousand more mail in ballot so far than Hillary. Republicans normally dominate vote by mail. However, I believe she will more than make up for that deficit with early in person voting.

(1,354 posts)my husband is a registered republican but always votes democratic. He returned his absentee ballot so I would guess that's considered a republican ballot, but it's not.

(44,972 posts)So how the state of PA can show more Republican turnout? Unless somebody can see into the future.

(2,331 posts)Absentee Ballot requires you to be physically absent from your voting district on election day. I imagine the percentage of ballots that are absentee in PA is relatively small. Being a poll observer in past elections I'd estimate less than 5% of the total votes.

(2,897 posts)for the repubs. Their small lead is due to mail-in ballots and Dems should/will overtake that before the end of early voting. Their margin at this time in 2008/2012 was much larger and they still lost.

But. Did my part!

(21,984 posts)of vote in Pennsylvania was by absentee (which is the only early vote there is).
Probably a lot of military and older folks in that total.
