(68,555 posts)She was remarkable for her time...worked for civil rights. But I have family members who understand Trump perfectly and are on boards...but happily only two in my entire extended family...one is a true Trump follower...white male and resentful and the other is an older woman who actually is a one issue voter...abortion and hates Trump but is concerned for the courts... the South is changing and on election day, I think Trump may be very surprised to find that he and those like him have become the minority...I sure hope so. I should say that the home place was Virginia...when your Dad is in the military and you move around...one place is considered home. Even after he got out, we move a great deal.

I am starting to enjoy it when his supporters make comments they think I will agree with. And looking them directly in the eye and telling them I am a social democrat. And favor European style government. Has happened 2 times. I was worried at first about getting into a fight but both times they just stopped talking.

I work with a lot of immigrants - scientists, but immigrants all the same - many junior to me, and finally some asked me who I was voting for.
When I told them "I'm with her..." they all were really, really, really happy.

(22,651 posts)we're up to 5.8 million Americans who have 'paid their debt to society' yet have lost their right to vote.
We also have about a half million workers, who work for Corps sewing blue jeans, crafting military vests, making shoes, skinning fish farms & slaughter houses under the 13th amendment "loophole" where they are slave labor.
