If Donald Trump were president, there'd be a lot more places like D.G. Yuengling & Son, the Pottsville, Schuylkill County-based brewing company. ... So said Eric Trump, son of the Republican Party nominee for president, Monday during a whistle-stop tour of Yuengling's brewery in East Norwegian Township.
"This is an amazing American success story," Trump said during a brief news conference at the brewery. "We need a lot more of these."
....
Trump said high taxes, over-regulation and Obamacare are "destroying" American businesses - a familiar theme of the Trump campaign. ... "My father's going to make it a lot easier for business to function," he declared. "We're going to do it right here in the U.S."
Dick Yuengling welcomed Trump, thanking him for taking the time to visit the brewery. ... "Our guys are behind your father," Yuengling said. "We need him in there."

That's too bad. I like Yuengling. I don't know why the guy wants to alienate half his customers. There are alternatives.

(4,136 posts)There are literally hundreds if not thousands of craft breweries setting up shop all across the country because people want locally brewed beer with flavor. Apparently the Little Trump does not know this.

(13,616 posts)it is a good beeer, which is mostly made in TAMPA. They bought out the old schlitz brewery. Not that I minded, as they did save jobs, but boy did they pick a poor horse to back.

(3,014 posts)In my humble opinion. We recently spent several years in the Fingerlakes region of central NYS, and it was one of the first beers we tried. Coming from Colorado and the PNW, I was shocked at the poor quality. We eventually found some good microbrews.

(7,286 posts)I used to drink it all the time, but I noticed that 3/4 through a bottle (dont even bother drinking the sludge they sell in cans) it would turm sour. It must have something to do with the temperature or the brewing process. I found I was pouring out the rest of the bottles and wasting money.

(15,265 posts)This isn't a surprise because the Yuengling's have been known to be right wing conservatives for a long time. I've had Yuengling and it's good beer. Black and Tan is my favorite. I'm sure they employ people who don't subscribe to the family's politics, so why hurt them?

(57,318 posts)In northern Virginia, you can get Yuengling everywhere. All the grocery stores have it as the regular lager (in cans and bottles, 6-packs, 12-packs, and 24-can or bottle cases), the light beer, and the black and tan (in 12-packs of bottles). You can buy it at the Rite-Aid, the CVS, Walgreen....
When you bought it, the money stayed in the US, unlike purchases of anything from the-two-big-companies-that-shall-be-named.
I'm sorry the owner did this. All he's accomplishing is getting rid of half his customers.

By Andrew Wagner
More was on the line than just North American bragging rights when Sidney Crosbys overtime goal gave Canada a 3-2 win over the U.S. in the Olympic ice hockey finals.
A case of beer was also up for grabs in a friendly wager between the country's leaders.
President Barack Obama followed through on his hockey bet with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper by sending case of Molson Canadian north of the border.
Had the United States won, Obama requested a case of Pennsylvania-brewed Yuengling. The Pottsville, Pa. brewery is not only America's oldest beer maker but also the Presidents brew of choice.
