A Canadian's perspective...

... please correct me if I'm wrong (as if I really need to ask this around DU!).

But, I'm getting the strong impression that over the last week or two, a lot of previously cynical voters are now voting FOR Ms. Clinton, rather than simply AGAINST Tr**p.

In other words, the carefully constructed media-RW "false Hillary" narrative, was likely utter bullshit.

IMO, many people are now voting FOR Clinton, because they like what they see:

Nerves of steel, intelligence, and a cool steady impenetrable resolve in the face of raving, stalking lunatic. Three "debates" in a row.

To put it simply: the real Hillary Clinton.

The PR against her goes back decades and shows how repulsive the GOP has been.

I'll bet it helped her plenty as Secretary of State. I'm in a different country every day for work, and the people I work with best are the ones I can have a good laugh with--and each culture has different thing they find funny, so a lot of it is feeling and instinct. She has both. Trump has none of the first and only the basest of the second.

After people actually get to see her, hear her talk etc...they see that she doesn't seem like the monster that they have been brought up conditioned to believe. Problem was it has been 24/7 all Trump for months. Even bad press on Trump takes away any stories on Clinton. And with Clinton, when they did talk about her, it was mostly negative stories, probably all negative, as I don't remember one MSM positive one on her.

But at least the debates had her directly speaking for herself in front of the camera. And many independents that had a preconditioned view of her but never actually watched her speak on her own, who would never watch her speak otherwise, were probably surprised how she held her own.

I supported Bernie in the primary and if you look at my past posts I was highly critical of Hillary. I didn't vote for her in the 2008 primary either - chose Obama.

So imagine my surprise that as this race has progressed, I've found myself liking Hillary. The way she has dealt with Donald especially in the debates, has shown me she is disciplined, prepared, and whip smart. Hillary has a softer side that she's had to hide because she needs men to vote for her and I get that. I have much respect and admiration for her now.

When I vote, I will do it with pride and hope for the future. I will be voting FOR Hillary Clinton.

People are beginning to see her for what she is: A smart, strong woman who is certainly qualified to lead the country.

... lest I forget: (as a Canadian) even though it's not over 'til it's over: so many of us (I think/hope will agree) owe an eternal debt of gratitude to that great man.

I'm an atheist, but if there is a god then:

God bless Bernie!
