This has been by far the most stress filled election period I have ever been through. Just when I think I can't take anymore, some new crisis rears its ugly head. I would prefer to sleep for the next eleven days. Something is wrong with the way we choose a President.

1. I wasn't sure I agreed with you when I first read your OP

as I hadn't spent much timing thinking of HOW we go about it.

But I agree. It is a shit show that just never ends. There is little discussion of any kind of policy aside from what we hear from HRC, and I'm not even being partisan. Whether one is a D or an R, tRump is a goddamned, blathering idiot.

And our system has become more and more like a TV reality show. The only problem is that it's NO reality I want to be part of.

We need publicly funded elections with NO outside money, and I mean NONE. This extended campaign that just never stops would have to come to a screeching halt. All these 'fund raisers' politicians spend so much time going to and stressing over? They would be defunct--no need, as the campaigns would be paid for (on a shoe string with no frills-- just the facts). We need the fairness doctrine back-- enough of these candidates receiving BILLIONS of dollars in free ad time. It is fucking OBSCENE.
