On a couple of threads I have commented that Comey should be fired but alternatively,

that he is playing a stalling game to keep the RW from using the issue of new emails as an election issue

On the other hand there was no urgency, in terms of the nature and content of these new emails, for Comey to initiate a new investigation, especially 12 days from an election

What I can say with confidence is that Comey's announcement is unprecedented by the the director of a, division of the DOJ during the last remaining days before an election

There is a hidden game being played here I'm just no longer sure what the game is or who is playing it

Clinton is most certainly going to be elected president by an impressive majority in the next week and a half So what is this gambit all about?

This is an open comment post with no agenda in mind

Comments either way are greatly appreciated

One stipulation, the premise of this discussion is that Clinton is going to win regardless so concern trolls stay out of this discussion

It seems impossible to me that the FBI would not have asked Abeden if she was in possession of any related emails. If Ameden answered "no" under oath, then Abeden has a Martha Stewart problem. I think that is why the specifics of the emails did not need to be known to convince Comey to continue the investigation. Abeden and Blumenthal should be shown the door by Hillary.

part of a personal agenda or is he working a third party game?

In short who is he allied with and what is his motive

If he is setting up Abedin in order to give an opening to a future impeachment move by a GOP dominated congress then this is unprecedented in another way.

It has a the makings of an historical move to destroy the mandate of a president elect even before she is elected

It falls within the pattern of how the US has destabilized uncooperative nations since the US coup of Iran coup of Iran in 1952

The right wing have demonstrated in the last eight years that they will attempt to destabilize US governments that don't serve their purposes

What is new is that they mean to do this during the last days of an election cycle

That by definition is a palace coup

emails unknown to the FBI, then Ameden has a Martha Stewart problem. That would answer the question as to why Comey could justify continuing the investigation merely based on the subject lines of the emails alone. This might have nothing to do with Hillary specifically.

the campaign and its surrogates will get on as many news programs as possible, and state the facts that this has NOTHING to do with any emails to or from Hillary, or Hillary's email server, and there is NO investigation regarding that

I also believe that Hillary will give another press conference no later than Monday, and reiterate those points in a very clear and concise manner, so there is no doubt that this has nothing to do with Hillary or her emails

For everyone else, we need to do what we can to Get Out The Vote

We will get through this

that post election Clinton impeachment will be on the front burner and he is setting the stage for it with this announcement

He is out to destabilize a Clinton presidency because he knows she will win and he wants to keep his RW bona fides in order to stay in Washington as a player

He's just like Issa, Chaffetz and the rest of the RW career poiiticical vandals

They don't want a stable government they want chaos because political instability puts money in their bank accounts

It has to be agenda driven. I'm not sure what that agenda is or who is driving it. I'm at a loss on that one. I do believe it is in support of conservatives as it was done while the Clinton campaign was firing off on all cylinders.

This is going to fire up Clintons base. The people giving money, volunteering, and driving people to the polls. That has to be known by those in the loop as well. Still, it was done at a time when Clinton and company were flat out steamrolling.

The next couple of days will be interesting.

Sat Oct 29, 2016, 09:12 AM

1. Hillary has already been cleared by the FBI

2. Comey followed that up with a gratuitous hit by holding an unprecedented new conference

3. Comey is Republican, who changed his registration to Independent, but we don't know why.

4. Comey followed that again by his "performance" at the Republican show trial (Congressional hearing), where he gave free ammo to
the Republicans to use against her.

5. Comey has drip fed emails out in batches, ensuring that "THE EMAILS" were constantly in the news cycle, and hurting Hillary.

6. Comey sent this latest letter, 11 days before the GE, ONLY to Republican Congressmen (and iirc Rep Senators), NOT to Democratic members.

7. Comey simply HAS TO HAVE KNOWN the effect this would cause, and still went ahead with it.

8. The FBI have had this laptop for the last FIVE weeks, and only now he released this ?

9. Comey has prided himself on his integrity. He must be challenged by senior Democrats to explain how this maintains his integrity, when what he has done is now a major issue in the Presidential campaign and hurts one side to the favour of the other.

I heard Congressman Cummings on with Rachel Maddow, and he shied away from criticising Comey directly. I can understand WHY he is doing that, but at this stage I think that is a mistake. Comey needs a baseball bat squarely between the legs. What he has done is outrageous, utterly partisan and finally strips away any notion at integrity. Hang the F**ker out to dry.
