2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI think it's likely that President Obama will comment
on Comeygate this weekend or early next week. He'll be making some campaign appearances, which would be an ideal time to bring this up and dispose of it as only he can do.
How do you "dispose" of something so vague? There aren't any charges! There's no way for Dems to fight back because there is nothing to punch.

(146,254 posts)explain that Comey should not have communicated such information, since neither he nor the FBI have actually even seen any of the material, as Comey admitted himself.
You also point out that the FBI almost never discusses investigations before they take place, and much less when they haven't even seen what they're talking about.
President Obama can effectively scold Comey for his premature release of this, since there's not even anything to look at yet. Comey overstepped his authority and violated the principles of the FBI in this disclosure. He caused damage without actually having any information.

(14,558 posts)this is what Rs do, except they target people who are simply doing their job.
This ass hat is engaging in partisan based abuse of his position.
But, instead of Ds RIGHTFULLY calling for his resignation and taking him apart, they are running around babbling about "poor guy is in a tough spot."
Any wonder why Rs control congress and state governorships and legislatures?

(15,262 posts)Oh, and bring up women's issues, equal pay, right to choose, issues that really matter and determine of how people vote.
The Republicans are trying to distract from our narrative. We don't want to fall for their nothing burger.
Obama might want to add, "If you are the President of the United States, you can't walk into any teenage girl's locker room in the country."
