By Margaret Hartmann
To see examples of mans inhumanity toward the machines hes created, you dont need to tune into HBOs Westworld. NBC News reports that the FBI is feeding the 650,000 emails found on Anthony Weiners computer through a specially designed program, which could speed up the investigation into Hillary Clintons private email server.
The computer program which we hope is not becoming sentient for a number of reasons is designed to pluck out emails to and from Clinton aide Huma Abedin, while ignoring her estranged ex-husbands presumably troubling correspondence. The laptop was discovered as agents were investigating allegations that Weiner exchanged explicit messages with a 15-year-old girl.
The New York Times reported that the program will allow agents to determine whether Abedins emails are copies of correspondence already examined by the bureau. Robert E. Anderson Jr., a former senior FBI executive, told the paper it could take less than a day for the program to identify duplicates. FBI agents would then review the files to confirm that they are just copies of previously examined emails.
That could allow the FBI to release more information on the nature of the new trove of Abedin emails before the election unless the program turns up new correspondence. In that case, the emails would be sent to other agencies to determine if they contain classified information. That process could drag out the Abedin email controversy for months.

(14,708 posts)they are used to it. some of the computers have even become addicted to it, and run through files even when there is no reason to.
But seriously, these programs are very fast and very good at this type of work. If the FBI is claining a delay, they are slow walking the results.
They already know enough to answer a lot of questions. Like, where did they come from, how many are duplicates, how many have classified markings, how many were to or from clinton or her server..
The only thing that would require a lot of agent time would be a large number of unique emails that have subject matter the agents haven't reviewed before. Then they have to find people who can say if that subject matter is classified.
They are done.
If they are slow walking this, they have NOTHING. If they call a press conference, something was there. Of course, it could have been planted by a hacker (files can go both ways) who had compromised the computer. Basically planting it there knowing that the computer would later be seized.
The FBI is not neutral, and they are not even concerned about appearances. They want to indict any way they can.
