Disgraced congressman Tom DeLay rolls out plan to impeach Hillary Clinton on day one
While Delay avoided jail time thanks to his conviction being overturned, he wants to see another Clinton trial. According to RightWingWatch, Delay demands Congress reprise the Clinton impeachment that lost Republicans the House in the 1990s.
In an appearance on the “Steve Malzberg Show,” Delay admitted that if he was in charge he’d start impeachment proceedings the day after the election. “Whether she’s pardoned [by President Obama] or not,” DeLay said. “You can’t have a criminal serving in the White House as president of the United States and commander in chief. It’s impossible, so let’s try her in the Senate.”
Malzberg pointed out the GOP is unlikely to even have enough votes in the Senate to actually convict Clinton, DeLay didn’t care. “We knew we didn’t have the votes to convict in the Senate, but we impeached [Bill] Clinton anyway because we knew that it was our responsibility to do so.”
The GOP then lost seats and former Speaker Newt Gingrich was humiliated and resigned in disgrace.
