That’s why it’s hard for Waller and other leaders of Philadelphia’s black churches and mosques to view Trump’s poll-monitoring plan as anything but an attempt to suppress the black vote. Waller recently convened a group of them, and they agreed to station patrols of up to seven black men at polling stations across the city.

“If it’s an older woman who’s on a cane, if it’s somebody who’s thirsty, if it’s someone who just needs some encouragement — we’re there to do that,” said Waller, 52. “And if anyone comes around to do anything that would deter from the free, fair opportunity to vote, we will shut that down.”

For Michael Rashid, a leader of Masjidullah, one of the mosques forming the patrols, Trump’s aggressive racial politics have stirred painful memories of his upbringing in Birmingham, Ala.

Obstacles to black voting rights were part of the city’s strict regimen of segregation. The white sections of movie theaters, buses and swimming pools were off-limits to Rashid.

good, honest, decent people everywhere need to stand up to the bullying of trump and his deplorables and prevent these suppression tactics. i would also like to see them add some white liberals for a unity coalition so that fox and fiends can't run with their racist dumbass "black panthers intimidate whites" narrative.

deplorables will be sent to watch. Of course any countermeasures on our side should reflect the community they are there to protect.

Locate themselves close to ballot boxes/machines (6 feet plus is a common distance).

Make frivolous challenges and slow down voting; the judge is duty-bound to keep voting efficient and to report frivolous challenges.

Communicate with voters or impedge access to voting. All challenges (in Texas) must be done in writing and Not involve the voter.

_______

In short, watchers are to position themselves away from voters, sit down, watch, and shut up. Only the Judge is to be communicated with. Know the rules. Election judges have many of the powers accorded State District Judges, on election day.
