Latinos in Ohio could be the decisive factor for the election
By Jaqueline Hurtado, CNN Fri November 4, 2016

(CNN)It's a recent Tuesday morning at Fiesta Jalisco Mexican Restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, and Victor Sandoval is preparing the daily food specials.
As you walk into the kitchen, your eyes may sting from the aroma of the freshly-chopped onions but instantly feel refreshed as you walk by a man chopping cilantro. They are key ingredients in the house salsa, a recipe Sandoval has used for decades.

Sandoval, who spoke to CNN after the final presidential debate had taken place, came to the US as an immigrant from Mexico in 1986, when he was 18 years old. He became a citizen in 1993 and lived in a few places around the country, but eventually moved to Ohio.

"Columbus is a good market for restaurants," he said. "It's growing like crazy. We have Latinos everywhere."

Sandoval now owns two restaurants and says that's why on November 8 he'll vote for the presidential candidate that will make life better for him as a businessman.
He's registered as a Republican, but adds that "doesn't mean I have to vote for that one because I always go with the party that offers more benefits for me and my family."

I live in Ohio. I do know Columbus has more latinos then Cleveland and Cincy. They actually have a hispanic radio station or two now in Columbus. But hey...every vote counts.

3. I doubt Ohio goes Clinton

Trump's lead is outside the margin of error.

Trump is also likely to win Nevada, an Obama state. And Arizona is probably now a lock for Trump.

If Trump does win Ohio, Zona, and Nevada (likely) and Utah does go Trump (also likely despite that third party guy), then Trump would only need to win Florida and NC to get into play. THOSE states are both very close. IF he wins them both, then I think if either Virginia, New Hampshire or Pennsylvania go Trump he is the next President.

Sadly, this election is going to be close. That's embarrassing and it's not just because America is a sexist devil.

6. UPI/CVoter POLL has Hillary at 50% of likely voters, Trump at 47 = Clinton +3

Of course, when it is this close, turnout decides. Latinos are turning out in record numbers, and that isn't well factored in likely voter algorithms. Cleveland turnout is surging too, and that's 1/8 of the Dems in Ohio.

8. IMO AZ is not a lock for Trump

30% of AZ's population is Latino and a record 83% are registered to vote this election. It'll be close, but I think Hillary can win AZ.

9. Ohio will go Blue for Hillary. The national democrats refused to back Ted Strickland so he may loose

The HRC ground game will turn out Democratic voters for Hillary. The national Democratic Party leadership will rue the day they allowed the Koch brothers to buy another Senate term for the vile Rob Portman. Ted Strickland is a great guy, but there are influential people who refused the money to help him combat the tens of millions of dollars spent by the Kochs and other vile reich wingers. Ted did not need to match the dollars, but going dark for two months on media ads was a disaster.

Ted Strickland really stands up for the little guy and did a tremendous job in just 4 years as a one term governor rooting out the horrible corruption in the Democratic Party in Ohio. Ohio's Democratic Party structure has been disastrously weakened by corruption by powerful members who were more interested in their own power and wealth than supporting the party and finding good Democratic Party candidates up and down the ballot. Ted and Sherrod are the very rare Democratic Party candidates here in Ohio who have been somewhat successful despite the party mess here in Ohio.

The HRC campaign will be successful here in Ohio and it is all about their ground game.

12. I hope so, but I doubt it. I think Ohio is only about 2%-3% Latino.

If Ohio has a higher percentage of Latinos (like Pennsylvania and some other states), I think it would be more reflective of the country as a whole and Clinton would be polling better.
