2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThat's it... Obama needs to call up the national guard
have them go to every FBI field office and arrest every last "special agent" and above on suspicion of violating their oath of office and violations of the Hatch act.
We can sort out who is really guilty when they are start turning on each other.

(29,199 posts)Hopefully Hillary hangs on... GOTV!!!... and then we arrest these assholes. All of them.
The House will impeach Obama... but the Senate will not convict. They will impeach Hillary too (if we don't flip the House).
Doesn't matter, there is a revolt brewing in this nation... armed white vigilantes invade federal lands and point weapons at law enforcement and.. nothing happens! Black men, women, and kids... with no weapons are summarily executed by law enforcement (or even some the the vigilantes). The FBI is in open cooperation with these people. Even the director of the FBI is releasing bullshit letters that hint at things not in evidence in an apparent and transparent effort to swing a presidential election.
WAKE UP!
These people are out to take over our country by force if required. Many in law enforcement are on their side already. They don't believe in democracy or equal rights. We need to clean house and take away the shield of authority from white bigots and bullies that should never have been hired into law enforcement or the FBI.

(10,252 posts)remember, the Hatch act says that gov officials cannot intervene within 60 days of an election. For starters, Comey himself might put some agents on suspension or administrative leave to make himself look good. Or Loretta Lynch might come up with some golden parachutes for early retirement for agents. I don't think that Comey can be fired, s he has some kind of tenure. But Obama could ask for his resignation. Those rogue agents must know that with a Clinton administration, their career advancement in the FBI will be impossible.

(972 posts)But I think there are a few less extreme steps that can be taken prior to that. I mean you are advocating the President use military force to detains hundreds possibly thousands of federal law enforcement officials without due process on suspicion of violating the Hatch Act?
lapfog_1
(29,199 posts)Who enforces the Hatch Act against the federal agency charged with upholding the laws, especially this law?
What police force is there that can act against a conspiracy inside the FBI?
The CIA and NSA are not the agencies to do this. Local police? State police? A lot of them are going to be on the side of the FBI agents fomenting revolution.

(972 posts)Can Attorney General appoint a special prosecutor?
With that aside, do you have actual proof that every single FBI agent above a certain rank is complicit in this and that it is not a handful out of 1 or 2 offices? Or is this just a gut feeling that your willing to roll the dice of entire system of government we have on?
What happens if the agents resist? Is the President going to order the military to fire on them? If so what happens if the military refuses that order?
Do you see how rapidly this could spin out of control?

(29,199 posts)is that every single special agent... certainly not. But I suspect it is a majority.

(29,199 posts)to use against Hillary. For the Trump campaign to use? I think she wins the election, but they plan to get some sort of criminal indictment of her before she takes the oath of office.
Wounded Bear
(58,634 posts)but to propose going out and sweeping up thousands of agents and screening them for their political leanings would be contra-constitutional.
Yes, we need to root out the agents and staff that use their position to do political activism. But you do it on an individual basis, not with some grand sweep. We don't need a night of the long knives here. That's not what a democracy does.
lapfog_1
(29,199 posts)but its using the power the FBI to investigate bullshit (like using the book "Clinton's Cash" as the basis for opening investigations) and then leaking / announcing this to the House Republicans so that they can, in turn, leak it to the Trump campaign (if it wasn't leaked already) to be used to swing undecideds against Hillary. That's what is illegal. And, according to Ghooolianai, there is a revolution brewing inside the FBI. and according to news reporters... the FBI is "Trumplandia" and there are many such people willing to get Hillary by any means.

(2,897 posts)Every office might be a bit overboard. Probably would be prudent to initiate a fairly large investigation after the election though. They need to put the screws to Rudy Guliani.

(23,937 posts)think about what you're asking for
yeah you're mad at the fbi, i'm mad at the fbi, most of this community is mad at them, but what you're suggesting is not reasonable or democratic.

(23,937 posts)further meddling that affects the election outcome should be avoided, as should any activity that may caste president Obama as some kind of autocrat.
after the election, president Obama can put the DOJ and the federal marshalls on Comey's butt. subpoena all his emails, see how much he likes it. walk the cat backwards and see where it goes. maybe break up the NY field office which seems to be the source of the problem.
lapfog_1
(29,199 posts)but federal marshals are hardly equipped to make a move on the FBI.
0rganism
(23,937 posts)re. federal marshals' equipment, we're not talking about the whole FBI here. investigate Comey first, along with some in the NY field office, but none without proper subpoenas and warrants. i doubt the FBI as a whole is going to stand in rebellion, but they can't be counted on to enforce the law impartially in this matter. so we're left with the marshals.

(18,672 posts)you can't counter fascism with fascism if you love democracy. It really is unnerving that it appears an agency entrusted to enforce the law has members who are flagrantly violating it. Something will be done by due process, mark my words. Hopefully sooner than later.
