First major argument I had after moving to Las Vegas in 1984 was with a bunch of guys my age who loved movies and thought Clint Eastwood was godlike. I laughed and listed all the reasons he was a fraud. It turned into a marathon argument in the Stardust sportsbook well into the wee hours, even though it had nothing to do with sports.

Decades later I've been proven correct. But I had a built in advantage because Clint Eastwood had already been interviewed multiple times during the Bing Crosby Pro Am telecast from Pebble Beach. Year after year. His wingnut status was on display if you listened closely enough.

Besides, I had a college buddy who was alongside Eastwood at the Pebble Beach clubhouse bar near the 18th green one afternoon a year or two earlier. He told me some of the hateful topics that were discussed. Too bad we didn't have smart phones in that era.
