Record voting registration numbers in Texas...about 80% of eligible voters are registered

Keep in mind that 28% of registered voters in Texas are Latino as of early 2016. And Obama took Travis County by over 60% in 2012.

http://www.kvue.com/news/politics/elections/record-high-early-voting-turnout-texas/348328947

The turnout for early voting is breaking records in Travis County and across Texas.

State officials are calling this presidential race "a high-interest election" for voters.

Texas has set a record with registered voters, which accounts for nearly 80 percent of the state's estimated voting population. The state has 15.1 million registered voters for this election, up from 13.6 million in the 2012 election.

The Texas Secretary of State's office said as of Thursday night, early voting numbers have topped four million. The old early voting record was in 2008 when around 3.5 million people cast their ballots. The numbers include the state's 15 largest counties. In this election, it accounts for more than 41 percent of all registered voters in Texas.

Texas Secretary of State Spokesperson Alicia Pierce said the numbers are breaking records from all angles.

“What’s interesting is that even if you adjust for the change in population or change in registered voters, we’re still seeing an increase in the number of people out there voting early, we’ll see if that trend continues through election day,” she said.

Election officials told KVUE that with the high interest from voters, they do expect the trend to continue.

In Travis County, election officials said there was a fantastic turnout on the first few days of early voting with more than 30,000 voters a day. However, the numbers started to taper off towards the weekend.

Friday evening, the country reported a total of 51.07 percent early voter turnout, most of which was seen on Friday.

I'm in Bexar county, heavy Hispanic population and we always go blue no matter the rest of the state. But I've never seen this turnout in the 28 years I've lived here. It's incredible.

Don't be surprised to see a big blue Texas on that electoral map Tuesday night. We're doing what we can to make it happen.

Racism was part of Nixon's southern strategy. We are no longer the same nation, less racist, more integrated, and a greater percentage minority population. While white percentage of population remains largest, they are no longer the majority.

You go in Texas the more it is a Spanish state. I say...great. Its almost like poetic justice. We took it over..let it rightfully go back. My wingnut MIL says all the time that we should have taken all of Mexico.

But I really think it could go blue and Trump's camp won't know what hit them. I'm certain it will be close...but I think it's totally do-able. Not all Republicans and white people agree with Trump or support him. I think a perfect storm is blowing across Texas...and without Texas Trump has no chance at all.

They have been increasing both registration and turnout, this in addition to their demographic explosion. This causes alarm amongst nationalists like Trump.

Children of the deported are becoming an electoral force to be reckoned with

PHOENIX—The deadly heat wave that hit Arizona last summer didn’t stop the voter-registration drive.

In 118º temperatures—the kind that makes it feel like your sneakers are melting to the sidewalk— canvassers stood in front of supermarkets, theaters, carwashes, and everywhere else they could flag people down with registration cards.

For the Latinx canvassers in Arizona, the commitment to registering voters is deeply personal. They grew up in the state where legislators passed the country’s most anti-immigrant legislation in the past decade, and they’ve endured the unabashed racism of Sheriff Joe Arpaio—a man who gets his kicks by parading chained immigrants through town.

“My mom is my motivation every day,” canvasser Irma Maldonado, 18, told .....
