Ivanka Trump Made A Big Order From A Top Jeweler. Their Response Is PRICELESS
By Natalie Dickinson
Posted on August 18, 2016
The Lady Grey jewelry company taught the world a lesson in responsible business something that Republican nominee Donald Trump could certainly do when his daughter Ivanka went to order a custom-made ear-cuff from the world-famous makers of luxurious accessories.
Jill Martinelli and Sabine Le Guyader, the designers of Lady Grey jewlery, were quite happy to prepare her order for her, but not so happy to accept her money. Instead, they took the profits from her ear cuff and donated them to The American Immigration Council, the Everytown for Gun Safety Organization, and the Hillary Clinton campaign, letting the world know with this post on Instagram.

(4,281 posts)Yes, they're both in Eastern Europe. But there's this tiny, little country called Hungary that keeps them apart. Millennia/Melanoma/Melancholy is from Slovenia.
And the Czech Republic is yet another country, whose citizens are way too polite to correct US citizens who can't or won't learn these subtle distinctions.

(9 posts)As disappointed as I am, there will not be a criminal rape trial for Trump. This court case is a civil matter, and the meeting before the judge is only about whether the judge will allow the case to proceed, since it is so far beyond the statue of limitations.
In addition, I think the plaintiff has withdrawn the suit. Oh well, if the lady cannot sue, maybe she will get a good book deal out of this.

(20,444 posts)WTF??
I have absolutely no clue what an ear cuff is. Do they mean ear muff???

(6,810 posts)...go back several millennia. They aren't remotely a new thing. Instead of piercing, they can gently clamp onto the ear and rest inside the folds.

(6,017 posts)And yes, she had to pay in advance (or used a credit card, but at least Jill Martinelli and Sabine Le Guyader got paid for their work).

(6,810 posts)And how apropos is it that it's one of the least expensive offerings? They have much better pieces in their collection, heaven forbid she spend a little more for something nicer.

Thanks for the ear cuff explanation, Crash2parties. Ears are not exactly our most attractive part up there. I'm kind of surprised people would want to draw attention to them side on, but whatever. More product to buy and sell.

Jill Martinelli and Sabine Le Guyader met while studying Sculpture and Metals at Massachusetts College of Art, and quickly bonded over their paralleled backgrounds in the dental industry- each had learned the basics of jewelry making while working in prosthetic dentistry and orthodontics as teenagers. In contrast with their one-of-a-kind, gallery-minded curriculum, the girls aimed to create a fashion forward jewelry collection that would bring their progressive design philosophies to the ready-to-wear market. In 2007 they moved to New York to follow this dream.
Lady Grey released their first collection in 2009, and within just months it had been featured in worldwide publications including ELLE, Harpers Bazaar, W, and Vogue Japan, and launched with the most coveted retail outlets such as Bergdorf Goodman and Selfridges. That same year, Lady Grey brought home Gen Arts Designer of the Year International award in accessories.
The designers retain the signature Lady Grey aesthetic through their distinctive use of materials and bold structures, steadily evolving with each collection. With their FW15 collection, they find beauty through the pairing of unlikely components, contrasting elements and illusive compositions. Pieces featuring flawed, earthy Pyrite cabochons set side by side with pear cut, brilliant, manmade Swarovski Crystals create an unlikely harmonic union. Elements of surrealism, hands and arms in positions contrary to all reasonable expectations, embellished with handmade chain tassels flowing from the wrist, prove to be as beautiful as they are enticing. All pieces in their collections are designed to be striking when worn alone, or layered in multiples to create unlimited and unique compositions and stories. Their balance of beauty and bravado, with ingenuity and wear-ability, has garnered Lady Grey focused attention from top publications such as The New York Times, ELLE, Marie Claire, Vogue, and Purple magazine.
Lady Grey is currently selling in over 30 luxury retailers worldwide, throughout the U.S., United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and Australia. Celebrity fans include Beyonce, Rihanna, Elizabeth Olsen, Rose Byrne, Solange, Selena Gomez, Grimes, and Emilia Clarke, among others.

(54,057 posts)When Cheneybush put through their first big irresponsible "tax relief," I immediately got a $300 check from the Treasury Department.
I endorsed it on the back "Pay to the order of Democratic National Committee," scanned it, sent them a copy and sent the original to the DNC in Washington.
The DNC said thanks. The Cheneybush administration forgot to comment, for some reason.
