2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI want to say thank you to all of the early voters
you have given me encouragement that in spite of the misery which is Donald Trump, we will have a great Tuesday.
You have taken a stand for a better tomorrow for yourself, your chlidren, humanity and the planet.
I've always been in Democratic friendly climate so I've never been inconvenienced...let alone face the obstacles created by those who are trying to prevent the present from intruding on their favored 1950s.
Thank you so much for your dedication to this American dream.

(31,683 posts)Very quietly - in the NJ anti racism coalition groups - we've stressed:
It CAN happen here.
It DID happen here.
It happened HERE in the early 1980's.
The cease and desist making the Republicans twitchy is because they did it to your parents and grandparents.
Vote early.
Now in my county yesterday - everyone early voting - in red majority white horse country NJ . . . When I was there:
White women wearing blue.
Black people
Hispanic
Indian
And these two cuties - Asha and Ayana who were 19 and 21 - naturalized U.S. citizens - Muslims - children of immigrants from Egypt. They liked my little Ruckus (Maltese puppy) and after our post vote conversation outside the location they got hugs.
They were scared about the outcome.
Not one single white male who was not Hispanic Latino.

(54,770 posts)I said never again. It was all I could do to keep from punching some of those idiots. There were some seemingly Democrats up ahead (people acting decently for the occasion), but I ended up standing with loud warmongering, gun loving, racists.
Plus, I don't want to risk illness, family emergency, laziness, even a work emergency, preventing me from voting.
I guess if one hasn't voted at this point, you better carry a book or earplugs or music to tune the GOPers out.

(9,670 posts)I am literally surrounded by Trumpies and due to my business cannot even admit my allegiance to HRC or the Democratic Party. I wish I could move but I can't. When Hillary wins, I will only be able to secretly gloat. If I outted myself, I would suffer grave consequences.
Kind of sad, in the Land of the Free, where freedom of speech is a primary right, that I have to live this way. Trust me, there's no other way.
Nevertheless, there are 3 early votes for Hillary that my family has offered the State of Georgia. It would tickle me pink if she prevailed here....but rest assured, in my county, that will not be the case.

Maybe someday my state will grow up and have early voting.
