"May none but Honest and Wise Men [sic] ever rule under this roof..." John Adams

His "prayer" for the White House after moving in as the first president to live there, from a letter he wrote to Abigail.

"I Pray Heaven to Bestow the best of Blessings on this house, and all that shall hereafter inhabit it. May none but Honest and Wise Men ever rule under this roof." (And women, I think we'd all agree. And I'm pretty sure Adams, for all his 18th century bias, would also agree where he around to see this election).
