The Hispanic sleeping giant has awakened

The Hispanic sleeping giant has awakened
BY BRENT BUDOWSKY, COLUMNIST, THE HILL
November 06, 2016 - 11:00 AM EST

When the history books are written about the 2016 campaign, one of the major chapters will describe the giant surge of Hispanic voters who entered national politics in full force to change the political demographic map of America forever.

National and state polls show a powerful move by Hispanic voters showing far greater enthusiasm favoring Democrats, substantially greater support for Democrats than in previous national elections, and Hispanic early voting totals that are far above average and record-shattering in some states, including Florida.

Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, Whites, Women, Republicans voting Dem for 1 day.

We have heard of many Republicans crossing party lines. Plenty of personal stories on here to testify to that. We are not hearing any examples of Dem's crossing over to Trump. I believe he will be THRASHED on Tuesday. Polling can't predict this.

Trump messed his own nest by insulting such a powerful demographic that was voting in really low numbers.

A very large portion of the Texas population has been sitting out voting until now, rendering the political majority the minority party.

Turnout can transform Texas overnight.

California to the Democrats with anti-latino legislation...and how many years have gone by? Trump may have done this on a national level.

Latinos/Hispanics are a diverse demographic, ideologically, but if there is a 'middle bulge' to that bell curve, it trends somewhat socially conservative, in my experience. Strong religious influences and family experience are common among Latino/Hispanic voters, rendering appeals to the kind of "family values" the GOP fondly believes they have a an exclusive lock on, quite effective.

There's a certain misogynistic/machismo streak in many Latino/Hispanic communities as well.

Latinos/Hispanics could be quite a favorable group for a GOP that's willing to position itself overall center-right, fiscally moderate, socially conservative, and abjure its more racist, xenophobic, hysterical extremist elements.

You can bet the Democratic Party establishment is awake to that.

But it's gotta really be torching the buns of those GOPpie solons who've been trying to position themselves as the natural party for Latino/Hispanic voters for the last 20 years...

amusedly,
Bright

Clinton will carry TX. Depending on how many Republicans bother to show up at the polls, it will be very, very interesting to watch Texas on Tuesday evening.

Its time to rise up against those who would oppress the hard working, family loving Hispanic people in this country!

Every Hispanic person I have ever known in my life were good hard working Americans and this republican terror campaign against them must be stopped starting tomorrow!!

And a woman is going to lead the way! Go Hillary!!!
