Had a scary incident while canvassing in Kansas City today!

I've been driving a crew canvassing for Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (MO 5th District). We were working a tough neighborhood on the east side of KC.

I got a call from a young lady on the team who wanted to be picked up immediately. As it turned out, she had witnessed a shooting on the block she was working. She was physically unhurt, fortunately; but, understandably unnerved.

I picked her up, and the last member of the team. Luckily, we were almost finished anyway.

If you're familiar with Kansas City at all, you know we've had entirely too much violence over the last few years. 167 homicides in the KC Metro area in 2016.

2. I remember that we never went east of the Paseo.

And the 71 corridor was crazy, but I thought they had cleaned it up. We always loved KC.
