2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe one thing about this campaign that to me is both horrific and mystifying
That a candidate for the Presidency of the United States of one of the two major parties could proposed a "2nd Amendment Solution" in the event that his rival should win, and there were no immediate consequences.
Made me consider arming myself. I earned a Sharpshooter badge in basic.

(6,133 posts)I always hope it never comes to what you suggest. We have government to protect us.
If those shit kickers start shooting, they should be met with the power of law enforcement.
major debacle
(508 posts)... until this fool made his debut. He has suggested that if his rival is elected, the 2nd Amendment be used to prevent the nomination of liberal Supreme Court justices, and there was no outcry from the GOP. They wrung their hands at all of his insults to decency, humanity, civility and sanity, but bit their tongues and announced their intentions to vote for him, nonetheless.
I withhold judgment until I see how he handles her victory, and ours.

(26,500 posts)a grease fire. Regardless of the bankruptcies, the 11th hour laughable "religious conversion", the deadbeat attitude when it comes to paying for services, the taxes, the different scams (too many to mention), the fact that he looks like a ridiculous exaggerated cartoon of himself, the fact that he knows jack shit about anything and on and on and on. 50+ percent of the electorate would've gone "yeah, he'll do, herp derp.". In a way I'm thankful that he just can't help but behave like a methed out baboon. Because thanks to the breath taking ignorance of a huge segment of our population. He could've pretended not to be insane for a year. Actually fucking win this thing. I find that frightening beyond words.

(16,173 posts)That would be worst case situation, I think. Russia is meddling in elections; but cyberdefense by our government might end up looking a lot like interference by Obama administration to the paranoid right.
