Why is Ryan telling people to vote for Trump NOW?

She simply believes she's above the law and always plays by her own rules,” House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) said in a statement. It was the second time in two days that Ryan, the nation’s highest-elected Republican, had called on voters to support the GOP nominee by name. He had previously distanced himself from Trump, particularly after a recording emerged of Trump making vulgar comments about women.

Ryan surely knows Trump is going to lose and lose big. This is about the first time ever he has been this overt. Up to now he has barely mentioned Trump by name. My guess is that he has some polling data to the effect that some Trump voters are going to punish him by not supporting Republicans in tight congressional races.
