A few thoughts as the media tells us we should try and listen to the angry white voter

I’m going to save you the trouble. I was born and raised and still live among these people, and I’ve got a simple message for you right from red Virginia.

They hate you/us.

Trust me on this, they don’t care what you think. Whatever it is that you think on anything, they'll take the opposite side because your a "libural"

Everybody has biases, of course. No point in trying to argue that point. Fox News has and will continue to tell them the "truth", that everything is stacked against them.

If you still want to reach out to an angry white voter to learn for yourself what I’ve learned the long, hard way over the past 40+ years, I suggest going to the nearest brick wall and trying to dislodge it with your head instead.

You have a greater chance of success, and the headache won’t be nearly as severe.

have been voting against their own interests since Ronald Reagan. Having grown up in a small, primarily white working class town in Appalachia, I've tried to be understanding of these attitudes, but there comes a time to face reality. I'm done. There is no fix for willful stupidity.

The real problem was that she lost support of college educated whites, the very group that she was supposed to be strongest with. But she didn't do nearly as well as Obama with them.

Had two friends who disbelieve me that "corporate donations" included those from working stiffs even though I explained that I had donated while working for three different companies this year. They voted for Hillary but drank the Bernie brew. They assumed they were single huge donations. Made me want to weep.

and hate is what trump used to win. The angry white voters I know and have seen live on resentment. Everything is conspiring to take away what is theirs by right - being white. They include people who have a couple homes and travel a lot to the working class who are convinced the poor/people of color/disabled are just taking their stuff.
If only for (fill in the blanks) they would be successful and have more stuff.

I'm white and I'm angry. But please don't lump me in with the nuts who voted for Trump.

I believe I understand your point, but please, I'm asking that we get away from stereotyping so much that it disenfranchises us by color.

I understand that because I'm white, I have a lesser chance of being harassed by a Trump dumbass supporter. But that does not mean that I haven't already cried tears over those who have been harassed. I have. It saddens me greatly to see my country set back 50 years. As a woman, I understand also BEING a minority.

I'm probably not explaining this very well, but I think you will understand my point. Just give all of us who voted for Hillary the credit for doing that - regardless of our color.
