The media. Repeat...the media. The media. And keep repeating.
False equivalence. Clicks. Eyeballs. Income.
The media jumped the shark some time ago, but it is inexcusable this time. They were completely bamboozled - certainly bought, in part, by their rich right wing owners - but by allowing such extreme gaslighting to go on - the non stop Corey and Kelly show - and Trump himself, of course - lie so fast and so often that it just easy to lump them all together - but - wow - isn't Hillary's email, a single issue, worse? At least it is easier to report on - as one issue.
The problem is that people believe what they see when it is repeated enough. Whether right wing hate radio or non stop talking lying heads, the lies become the truth - and people think there is an enemy (that of course doesn't exist) - they wish to return to a time that only exists in the lies.
There are surely a lot of things that went wrong - but it is the media that not only played a large - huge - part in this result, but watch carefully and see how quickly they normalize what is about to transpire. And - always - we on the left become the bad guys.
What is bizarre is they act as if this is indeed just a reality show. It is as if they don't really have to live in the country, be buffeted by the issues they themselves are enabling. And that is one big issue - most of them probably are financially protected from the shitstorm.
I have no idea how that gets turned around. And it has to be figured out - if we don't we are all totally screwed.
That's about all I can add tonight. It has been a week - and I am as hurt, angry, pissed off, flabbergasted, shocked, and grieving as I was one week ago.
