My Latina doctor & this election

I had a checkup scheduled today and when my doctor came in she asked how I was. I made a comment about how stressed out I am over the election. She is also concerned. She is a citizen but has obviously not been in this country very long. She has daughters still at home. After talking for awhile and seeing how upset I am, she offered a few Xanax to help me through some really trying times I have coming up (not election related). Although I live in a sea of red, she said I am the fifth Democratic patient she's seen today who are so frightened by what's to come and she's given medication to get them past this. (btw, this is a woman who rarely wants to medicate for something)

She also said if he begins to do the things he said he would do, that she will leave the country with her daughters because she doesn't intend for them to grow up in an atmosphere of hate.

I love my doctor. She's the best. I hope she isn't forced to leave.

the day after the election to get a script for anxiety. (First time ever for me, although I am prone to bouts of mild depression). The provider was very understanding when I told her why I needed it and said she certainly understood.

I really hope you doctor doesn't have to leave as well.

He did get about a third of Latino votes. I did not suspect I knew anyone in that category, but I was wrong. I know one guy who came here from Mexico, and wants to slam the door behind himself. He's been talking this way for years, but I did not suspect he was so serious about it that he would vote for Trump. Guess I was wrong.

"I did it right, they can too" people. But that doesn't account for the hatred from Trump supporters that your acquaintance doesn't acknowledge. He will likely pay a price for his vote.
