Why Did Colorado Reject Single Payer Health Care ?

IT was also rejected by a HUGE amount in a state that Hillary Clinton won . and which OBama won twice. So this is a mostly blue leaning state.

maybe they are actually happy with obamacare.

Insurance companies dumped ridiculous millions into an ad campaign against it. Ads were mailed and aired on radio and TV. They essentially lied in their insistence that the program would mean a huge tax increase; in reality, it would have taken the money spent on premiums and shifted it to the state program. Insurance companies from across the country were terrified that the program would provide an effective example of alternative to companies that profit off our need for access to health care. To be sure the program was imperfect, but it scared the living crap out of the insurance industry -- and their fear had nothing to do with our well-being.

We beat them. It was really impressive how a grassroots effort took them down.

and probably supports Dems more due to social and environmental issues.

It is still a swing state, Obama and Hillary won it by about 5% in the past two elections. W won it both times.

It's prohibitively expensive right now. They need to find a way to control costs.

Colorado passed an amendment in the 1990's to deny special rights to gays, which then had to be fought and taken all the way to the Supreme Court and reversed as unconstitutional.

It's historically a centrist state, with periods of being somewhat to the left and somewhat to the right.
