1) the national number of votes for president is now ~ 4% higher than in 2012, despite voter suppression in WI, NC, and other states. So much for the argument some pundits rushed to put forward soon after Nov. 8, that a much larger than normal # of people stayed home this year. Only a few states had smaller vote totals than in 2012.
2) WI, OH, and Mississippi have the lowest voter #s relative to 2012 of all the states.

(34,300 posts)efforts. Aside from the suppression, I don't think it's likely that fewer people were motivated to turnout and vote from someone, given all the GOTV efforts there and voters' knowledge that they were an important swing state as in the last few elections.
I'm glad there are recount/audit efforts underway.

Also... I would put good money on it that in states were turnout is low the suppression efforts help GOPers win
